Good: Spending the weekend with your sisters, mom and sisters-in-law
Better: Spending it doing nothing but reading, eating, relaxing and a little shopping
Best: Coming home to a wonderful (but tired) husband and kids.

Joe's First Hairstyle

Girls weekend was coming up fast when Joe realized that his backup plan for doing doing the girls hair was leaving town this weekend. Joe is always really good to help around the house when I can't do it all and is even more supportive about me leaving but that is the one thing he always says he can't do.
As he was going into full-on panic mode, I reassured him that there were a few things that he could do. Yesterday I showed him what to do and a few tricks if it doesn't work. He decided this morning to do a trial run on Brenna and Braelynn's hair and I think he did an excellent job. What about you?
I had to laugh, though, he broke three of those little black rubber bands just doing one ponytail!

Wrestling

I finally took some wrestling pictures that I said I would take a few weeks ago. Not my fault...last week Joe had to work so I was video taping instead of taking pictures! Tyler is in the black.
Tyler had a great moment today. He finally beat his friend that he has never won before! He has been wrestling for years, he almost always wins and has a brother that wrestles in high school. Usually there are three rounds. It was tied at the end of the three rounds, first overtime (thirty seconds) it was still tied. They automatically have to go two more rounds after that. Tyler won by one point in the sixth round. These two boys have been friends for years, and I love how they can wrestle and then give each other a hug right afterwards.
There are always those parents and kids (mostly parents) that get way too competitive and fight dirty but there are so many of them that become friends from sitting on the mat together week after week. There is one kid from a rival school that Tyler wrestles a lot and they are so evenly matched that whoever happens to win that time wins by 1 or 2 points, even going into overtime once. I watched these two become friends and hang out on the mat during the last few weeks and cheer each other on when wrestling other people.
Yea for parents and kids who can be competitive but still play nice, especially in a sport like wrestling where you do fight and get hurt and hurt others sometimes and boo to those who fight mean!

Violin
Veronica had the opportunity to play her violin along with another girl as part of a special musical number in Stake Conference today. She did a wonderful job, she only received the music a week ago which sort of stressed her out but she still did awesome.
She looked beautiful. I wish me or my camera (who ever's fault it may be...probably mine) took better pictures because, once again, they didn't turn out great, but something is better than nothing, right?
Brenna and Braelynn were fresh out of the bath with wet hair but wanted in the action, too.
Want to hear about my little tender mercy that happened yesterday? Veronica sometimes gets "dumped on" about watching the twins. I try really hard not to take advantage of her, but sometimes I don't really have a choice. That and it is so easy to just run wherever really quick instead of putting on socks, shoes, combing hair, getting coats on, etc, etc. She is so good and never complains about it and even volunteers sometimes to do it.
Anyway, I really wanted to get her something new for today because, one she deserves it, and two, I wanted her to look nice and she never gets new dresses. Joe was working until 7:00 and I had the adult session of stake conference to go to at that time. The wrestling tournament took until 3:00 that afternoon and then we had to go feed a friends' dogs afterward. That meant I had from 4:00 until 7:00 to go get Joe's new phone activated, possibly find Veronica a dress, make dinner, clean up the house, get gas, get myself looking presentable for conference and so on.
There was not really any disposable income to spend on a new outfit so we mentally looked through her closet and thought of a skirt she has that is nice but the shirt is worn and getting too small. There is not a lot of shopping here in Cedar, but on my list of stores I thought we could look at, they are pretty expensive but sometimes if you hit them just right, you can find a sale but I just didn't have the time to shop around. It just so happened that the first store we went to was having a huge clearance sale! She was able to get a new skirt and shirt for her special day.
I know it sounds like a silly little story, but I know that Heavenly Father watches out for our needs, and sometimes our wants. Yes, she would have been just fine with an old dress but sometimes the little things make a big difference. We won't always get the thins we want but somethings He will make it possible for us to do so.

Cute Sam

Here is just a few pictures of our cute, fun, bubbly Samantha during and before her litle (really, little, like 50 seconds) dance she did with the Canyon View Tallons for a three day dance clinic this week. I only got this one picture because the girl in front showing them the dance moves was right in front of Sam. Grr.
We love you, Sam!

Taffy Pull
If the boys are away...the girls will play! Tyler and Joe were at a wrestling tournament on Saturday that was a little too far for all of us to go to (if it is more than an hour drive, I figure it is not fair to the girls to travel for so long, sit on the bleachers for hours, and then travel home on their day off of school) so I was looking for something for us to do when I came across this!
It was fun to try it, and uses ingredients that you usually keep in your cupboard. I will have to keep that in mind for the summer when kids are bored!
I will post pictures of Tyler after this next tournament on Saturday. My batteries were almost dead on the first tournament, so most of the pictures were not of what I wanted, and Joe was video taping yesterday and didn't take pictures.
