By Plane, By Train, By Bus and Car

Girls weekend 2011 took place last weekend in beautiful Davis, California (outside of Sacramento), home to Wiscomb-Davis Funeral Home that my sister owns and runs.
That's right, we stayed in her home above the mortuary. Actually, I slept downstairs in the mortuary, just because I wanted quiet. She did have a ummm, client there, but he was quiet and didn't bother us!
We all arrived Thursday evening, some by car, and some by plane. The next day we took the Amtrak to San Francisco and then caught a bus right to pier 39. We spent the entire day there sightseeing, eating and shopping. We started the day and ended the day the best way possible--eating hot mini doughnuts from shop on the pier.

The next day was spent with a little more shopping, taking in the local farmers market and nearby attractions. For dinner, we had my first experience with Thai food. I am in love with Thai food! I can't wait to try it again and get something different!

It was a wonderful weekend, although I missed my family terribly. I feel so lucky to have a loving, supportive husband and kids, as well as sisters, brothers, parents, and in-laws. I am also forever in awe of the love our Heavenly Father has for us and the little ways that He shows us that He loves us and wants us to be happy. Going to girls weekend wasn't a need, but a want and He still provided a way through some sewing jobs to earn a little extra money so that Veronica and I could go and not have to feel a strain on our families budget. We were able to create some wonderful memories and strengthen relationships.
I am suffering from Girls Weekend Hangover, though. A little too much food, too many late nights, and too much traveling (13 1/2 hours each way for Veronica and I) but it was totally worth it!
