Cousins, Helicopters, and Jazz

Joe's work gave us tickets to Saturdays Jazz game, so we drove up there on Friday and spent the night with my brother, Alma, his wife, Matti and their kids Bella and Oliver.
We all had a great time with them, but especially Brenna and Braelynn. They are about a month older than Bella, so they get along great. They spent most of their time in Bella's dress-ups, complete with wands, wings and shoes that she was so good about sharing. When it was time to go, it was late Saturday evening, so exhaustion combined with not wanting to leave, we had three sad little girls and lots of tears. We left with promises of another sleepover on Friday. I can not count how many times I have been asked if it is time for Bella to sleep with us!

Matti is a nurse for the OB Airmed team and she took us up to her work to see the helicopter. That was cool, Joe loved it just as much or more than the kids.

The Jazz game was good, we had not been for a very long time, way before we had the twins, so it was really fun for us, it was nice to be just together, after a long week and weekend.
We really appreciate Matti and Alma for letting us stay with them and for being so good to us. Kudos to Alma, who watched all of our kids, plus his two while we were at the game!
We got home about 1:30 that morning, put sleeping kids in their beds and turned off our light about 2:00. Half an hour later, Braelynn wakes up saying she is hot and then an hour later, needing a drink, then saying her stomach hurt, and so on every 45minutes until 5:30 when she threw up all over her self and her bed! I put her in the tub to clean up her and her bed. Less than 5 minutes after throwing up she informs me that she feels all better now. I clean everything up, put her back to bed and crawl back into bed about 6:30, just in time to sleep for 1 1/2 hours before getting up for church. Fun.

Sack Lunch

It's my blog and I'll brag if I want to...
So we have church at 11:00 and I had to be in another ward at 1:00 and since I had a meeting afterward, I would not be home until 5:00.
I get really sick if I skip lunch, so I decided to pack a sandwich to eat from one church to another. While I was making it, Joe came in and told me he would make my sandwich while I finished getting ready.
When I got in the car to go to the other ward, I saw a little sack lunch that Joe and the kids made me complete with a turkey sandwich with lettuce and peperoncinis, just how I like it, a yogurt and diet Pepsi (aaahhh!). They also put in a napkin, spoon and a cute little note from Samantha saying that she hopes I have a "grate" lunch.
Not only does Joe completely support me in the things that I do, he also does the little stuff like coming home from working a 12 hour shift and watching kids and having them in bed without complaining now he makes me sack lunches. I really have the best husband ever!

"First" Christmas!

This year was the first Christmas that we didn't either have someone over for Christmas dinner or go somewhere for at least part of the day. It was great, the farthest we went that day was to pump up the tires in Brenna and Braelynn's new bikes.
Since it was just us for dinner, we tried something new. Each of the kids were in charge of their own dish. Veronica did her first pie all by herself, Tyler made Pretzel Salad, Samantha did most of the rolls and Brenna and Braelynn helped with the potatoes.
One of our traditions that we do every year is have Christmas candles for breakfast. My sister, Brenda, told me about it years ago. We take cottage cheese on a plate, followed by a pineapple ring, then cut a banana in half crosswise to form the candle, followed by a maraschino cherry and topped off with spray whipped cream. Brenna completely forgot her manners for a minute, and dug in wholeheartedly. (Notice Braelynn's facial expression in the background!)

We all had fun playing with new toys, games, and watching movies. FYI, I highly recommend Sorry Sliders and Scrabble Slam for anyone eight years old or older. The kids and their friends have had fun with those two games this week.

The next day, as soon as Joe got off work, we headed to my parent's house. My whole family was there for a little Christmas celebration. It was chaos with 27 people there but fun, as always, to see everyone.
