On Wednesday, I got a call from the school saying that Brenna had fell off the monkey bars and hurt her arm.  When I got to her it wasn't swelling but I could tell that she was in a lot of pain.  Brenna is a pretty tough girl and doesn't complain much about being hurt.  The way she was acting  and the times that it hurt when she moved different ways, I decided to call the doctor just to have her checked out.  I got a call the next morning when they had read the x-rays saying that we needed to go to the orthopedic specialist because of possible growth plate damage.  We headed to St. George, saw the specialist and came home with a cool pink cast.  We were very happy to hear that it was just a broken elbow and the growth plate should be fine.
She hadn't slept much the night before because her arm was hurting so bad.  When we got home she crashed on the couch surrounded by her ice pack, sling and water.

I have a "first day of school" this week tomorrow also.  I was hired on as a Special Ed Aide at Enoch Elementary, working from 8:20 am to 11:55 am, Monday through Friday.  I am excited about this new adventure but a little worried about how to juggle work, exercise, primary, and all the other mom duties but I am sure we will figure it all out.

That's What It's All About

With school starting in just a few days, I wanted to highlight a few of the things we have done this summer that haven't made it on the blog.
We accomplished so many of the things that I wanted to do but sadly there were so many that didn't get done, like a lemonade stand, a huge late night with night games, not enough friend time, some road trips that didn't happen, not enough crafts or activities, etc.  I feel a little disheartened that those things will have to wait for 9 more months.  I am not ready for the early mornings, crazy busy afternoons, hurried evenings and overall responsibility of school (spelling words, homework, reading calendars, sight words).
BUT it has been a great summer full of:

Scout camp (Tyler)

Guys weekend (Tyler and Joe)

Girls camp, 4th year hike and youth conference (Veronica)

Trip to Minnesota (Samantha and Grandma Smith)

Swimming (We had enough in our vacation jar to buy a season pass to the swimming pool.  Best. Investment. EVER.)

Lots of friends over

Water balloons and water fights

Otter Pops and Popsicles (I wish I would have kept track of how many boxes/bags of those I bought this summer)

Fort making and sleeping outside

Playing in the rain

Hiking--We explored lots of places that are within 15 min of our house that we have never been to like hiking down the "C" trail, 1000 flushes, and a canyon with a stream and water slide

Bike riding to the Tiki Shack for a snow come and the park

Free lunch at the park

Singing at the park after the 24th of July Parade (Samantha)

Picnics

Target Shooting

Making gack, slime and bouncy balls

Playing outside

Hair braids

And that, my friends, is what summer is all about!
